Wiki Wiki Web

After reading about Wikis on WebJunction a few years ago, I've explored and used Wikipedia before and often questioned some of the content. Today while doing the discovery part I got caught up in Wikiquote which I'd never visited previously.

For someone who read the Columbia Encyclopedia as a child, Wiki reading is addictive. Some of the uses by libraries were informative for library workers.

Better move on, a Public School is phoning.

Just discovered the spell check is available on Blogspot and the edit posts---yahoo!

Next Space - Library 2.0

OCLC's futuring features are welcomed reading. A diverse group is brought together to express how they view the future. But after reading through all the content of Next Space, I realized I was reading information from 2006. A Back to the Future experience as much of the content is happening in libraries in 2008. However the idea that all this is happen' would be debunked by the thoughts in Library 2.0 Debased.

Technorattle

So many words used in blogoshere are words that hold other meanings. An example is the use of the word "authority" by Technorati. It took rereading and clicking links and trying an Ask. com question and eventually discovering an FAQ that explained the use of "authority." All very time consuming and a bit confusing.

It is hard to get a handle on much of this as there is too much information and oh so many links but so little time. Doing the "Learning 2.0" search in Technorati just threw- up a bunch of blogger prattle.

Yum!

I can see using del.icio.us. Like the portability of favored web locations. Would like to spend more time with del.icio.us but must hurry on to the next thing...hope to come back and explore more.

Learned about the NLC Reference
del.icio.us account. It would be useful for quick access to favorite ref sites.

Rolled Over

It's week six and I'm still working on week five. Have begun doing the exercise for "rollo" but get hung up or interupted. It appears it could be useful but it's not workin' for me.

Ease of Adding

Adding RSS feeds is easy. It helps one avoid having to figure out how they got to a site they like as it's right there in the feeds lists. Both the "Favorites" and the "Blogline" lists have the stuff of interst. One click and scroll away.

Week Four #*@!$%

Whoopee another password to create and not remember! Also more eye strain looking at the computer screen. A crinkly paper is easier on the eyes and to skim. RSS feeds do offer a glance at the world with just a click.
